SPECIALTY FABRIC INFORMATION
I am using alot of cork which is very durable, natural, sustainable, vegan, PETA approved, eco friendly product from Portugal. Cork has naturally occurring anti mildew and anti bacterial qualities as well as water resistant properties! Cork oak trees have their bark removed by skilled labour men every 7-9 years. The bark then grows back and is reharvested making it a truly sustainable product.
Because of the nature of cork, coming from a natural wood source, the surface can be pitted with small holes and cracks. This is part of the appearance and natural quality.

Army Duck Waxed Canvas is made from durable100% cotton canvas that infused with TexWax into the weave. As it is used "character" is created from crazing and "cracking". It is strong, flexible and water repellent. If a smoother appearance is desired, a very light pass with low heat from hair dryer will cause the wax to remelt enough to smooth out the "cracking". DO Not Iron!

I also utilize fabrics created for kimonos. Some fabric pieces come from unused vintage fabric bolts. Some are pieces that used to be kimono, now taken apart, cleaned and pressed and in beautiful condition given their age. Most of these fabrics were created decades ago in small workrooms, and their exact history and production methods are not documented. Many kimono fabrics are created once, for one 13-yard bolt only - making them very unique.
